Our bodies and brains are equipped to handle stress in short bursts, but not over long extended periods of time. The impact of burnout is real. Lack of motivation, decrease in confidence, decrease in performance, increase moodiness, negative thinking—all of which can lower the quality of life. Burnout can feel insurmountable, but this overwhelm is a signal, not a sentence.

There are a few signs of burnout and learning to recognize them can help mitigate the problem. If you feel overloaded, overwhelmed, emotionally drained, unable to meet the constant demands at work or in your life. As the stress continues you begin to lose interest and motivation. This burnout reduces your productivity, saps your energy, leaves you feeling increasingly hopeless or helpless, cynical, resentful. Eventually you might feel like you have nothing left to give, but there is hope.
