Ever wonder if your relentless productivity is hiding a deeper pain? Our host & CEO Alexis Banc has been there—juggling the roles of caregiver and entrepreneur while feeling an underlying emptiness that no amount of busyness can erase.

In this episode, we’ll dive deep into the science of happiness and uncover how our brains can trick us into masking depression with nonstop doing. We’ll share how small, intentional actions – called “joy points”—can transform a day from being merely productive to genuinely fulfilling.

Our guest today challenges the traditional understanding of depression by introducing a new, less recognized form of it. Dr Judith Joseph is a Board Certified Psychiatrist conducting the first of its kind research study in High Functioning Depression in her laboratories and is here to share her findings, which are outlined in her new book High Functioning Depression: Overcome Your Hidden Depression and Reclaim Your Joy.

Alexis also explores her own journey through high functioning depression and how understanding our unique biopsychosocial makeup can help us reclaim our inner vibrancy. If you’ve ever questioned whether your drive is a sign of hidden distress instead of true fulfilment, join me in challenging this status quo.
